The Post-Searchlight gave me some front page space:

*Followed by a nice letter.

Here's the write-up on FSU's College of Communication & Information newspage:

graduation day

My master's ceremony was this past Saturday. Whew! I can't believe it's over. After five semesters at FSU, I'm done (the diploma should arrive in the mail in a few weeks). I was grateful to have Amy beside me on Saturday (and through the whole process... she took on a lot of extra work to get me through it... I'm going to pencil in her name beside mine on the diploma). Everett was there for the big day too, but he slept through it. My mom and dad came; I bet they never thought they'd be attending another graduation. Jad called, but just to ask Dad something:) Braden, Simon and Lucy came down later with Ladybug and we had a celebration dinner before heading back to campus for some photos. I'm thankful that God gave me this opportunity and look forward to what's to come.

He's getting chubby and happy. Maybe he's finally waking up. He can saw some logs.

a little excited

Amy just called. Her dad is here for a visit which is awesome. But what makes it incredible is that he brought down the canoe he bought me at an estate sale recently. He's been working on it for the past few weeks, I guess, putting on a new wood trim. I can't wait to get it in the water!

In other news, I'm graduating in a few weeks. I have one final project due tomorrow and one due next week and I'll be finished. I'll officially have my MLIS.

volunteer pancakes!

We woke up this morning to a treat: all you can eat pancakes at the Spring Creek Volunteer Fire Department. Braden had seven pancakes and one sausage. Simon had five pancakes and a sausage. Probably all together we had some 30 pancakes between the 6 of us (Everett didn't have any this time).

Fun? Run

This past week or so the kids have been involved in the Boosterthon Fun Run at their school. It's your basic fun run (pledge per lap) with a few modifications. Braden and Simon really went after it, especially the financial side. They were ready to go door-to-door until I stopped them. Braden tried to get a $25 per lap pledge, but settled for $1 from Poppy.

The boys did run the 35 lap limit. I was pleased that they ran most of the time, except when they paused to play their air guitar or to do their best Nate Robinson impersonation.

The fun run finished up yesterday for us when we combed the neighborhood to get donors to pay up. We'd just collected from our friends Brittany and Allen when the boys--on their bikes--left Lucy and I behind. Not a minute later I can hear Simon's screams bouncing off the houses in our little subdivision. I rounded the corner and he's sprawled in the road holding his knee. Apparently, he tried to ram Braden's back tire only to get tripped up. He skinned his knee up pretty nice and even went to the next house with blood running down his leg. That's one way to collect your pledges, I guess.

Everett is here!

We welcomed the sixth member into our family this month: Everett Walker Dowdy. Everett was born the day after my (Jeff) birthday. I joked the week leading up to the birth that it would be my last birthday to celebrate knowing full well that from now on Everett's day will trump mine (rightfully so, since I've already had 35).

I created a slideshow. Please leave a comment or two for us to share with Everett and the proud Momma.
